01.How does laser hair reduction/removal work?

The light from the laser is absorbed by the melanin in the hair follicle, which is then converted to heat and destroys the hair follicle.

The hairs have to be in the Anagen stage (active growth phase) to get results. The thicker and darker the hair, lighter the skin are the right candidate for laser hair reduction.

02.How many treatments are necessary to achieve results?

Everyones ideal reduction is different. On average 6 to 8 plus treatments, followed by maintenance for optimal results. Many factors can contribute to the ideal results.

Age: Men and women can experience increase in the hair growths as they get older. We can only destroy the hairs that are present today. We can then treat the hairs that come up later as they grow.

Hormonal: Imbalance hormones can effect the results undergone by laser hair removal treatments. Some can notice increase in the hair while getting laser hair removal treatments. Additional maintenance treatments are required.

Genetics: Genetics contribute in the reduction of hairs from person to person. Some people naturally have more hair than others. This will require more maintenance treatments for some people.

03.How often should I have laser hair removal treatments?

There are three different stages of the hair growth

Anagen: Hair is attached to the root. This is the active growth stage. This may last between 2 to 6 years. Anagen is the only stage where we can successfully destroy the hair follicle to get optimum results from laser.

Catagen: Hair is no longer attached to the root. This stage lasts between 1 to 4 weeks. Laser hair removal is unsuccessful at this stage.

Telogen: The hair follicles completely separated from the root. This stages lasts up to 5 to 6 weeks. We can’t remove any hairs with the laser at this stage. In conclusion we call back our clients every 4 to 6 weeks apart for the face and 8 to 10 weeks apart for the body for best results

04.What is the difference between Laser and IPL?

The difference is the wavelength of light. Diode Laser’s have a wavelength of 810nm, reaching the root of the hair. IPL’s has varied wavelengths in which not all the light is penetrating at the correct depth.
